Forklift Recertification FAQ

Do I need proof of my old forklift certification?
No. Recertification runs on the honor system. If you have been certified as a forklift operator before, you qualify, and you don't need to show an old card, a certificate number or a training record at checkout.
My forklift certification expired years ago. Can I still recertify?
Yes. There is no cutoff. Whether your certification ran out last month or ten years ago, you take the same full course and exam and get a new certificate valid for 3 years from the day you finish. Because it is the full course, nothing assumes you remember the details.
I was certified by another company. Does that count?
Yes. It doesn't matter who trained you: a previous employer, a community college, a training center or another online course. If you were certified as a forklift operator before, by anyone, the $49 recertification is for you.
Is forklift certification renewal a shorter course?
No. You get the exact course first-time operators take: 8 lessons covering all 7 forklift classes plus pallet jacks, the same 30-question final exam, and the same certificate and wallet card. It costs $10 less because you have done this before, not because you get less.
How long is my new forklift certification valid?
Your new certificate shows a valid-through date 3 years from the day you finish, and we email you 60 days before it expires. OSHA's own clock runs from your employer's hands-on evaluation, which must happen at least once every three years. Refresher training can come due sooner, for example after an accident, a near miss or a move to a different type of truck.
Does my employer still need to evaluate me?
Yes. Online training covers the formal instruction part only. Under 29 CFR 1910.178(l)(4)(iii), your employer must evaluate your performance at least once every three years, at your workplace, on the truck you use. The back of your wallet card has fields for your employer to record that evaluation.
Is online forklift recertification OSHA compliant?
Yes. The course meets the formal instruction requirements of OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.178(l), the same as our first-time course. OSHA does not certify operators or approve training courses, ours or anyone else's. Your employer certifies you after the hands-on evaluation at your workplace.
I need to renew several operators. Is there a team price?
Yes. Team seats cost $50 each for 2 to 4 operators, $40 each for 5 to 9, and $30 each for 10 or more. Every seat gets the same course, and you add operators and download their certificates from one team dashboard. See team pricing.
How do I renew a forklift license?
The US has no government forklift license, so there is nothing to renew at a state office. What people call forklift license renewal is renewing your operator certification, which takes two steps: retake the formal instruction, such as this $49 online course, then pass a hands-on evaluation by your employer at work.
